What is an Optometrist?

Optometrists have 8 years of post-high school education. We go to college, typically studying a pre-med route, then apply to optometry school. Three years of optometry school is learning about the body, medications, and the eye. The 4th year is comprised of clinicals, where we learn to apply our knowledge. Optometrists are also required to pass board examinations and state law examinations after graduation to practice optometry. Ophthalmologists attend medical school, then complete a residency, where they learn how to treat the eye and perform surgery.

We refer to the best surgeons and manage your progress post-surgery. There are so many options to become less dependent on glasses following surgery.
